As a cardio junkie, yoga and stretching is another area in my fitness routine that I know needs improvement. I know it’s important for so many obvious reasons, but I’ve never made it a priority. But, this time around, I’m trying to be intentional about how I spend my time at the gym. This means incorporating classes like Yin Yang Yoga Blend into my schedule. My CLM Ambassador, Jacquie recommended this class for me, knowing my physical limitations and my need for movement. I love the idea of being still, quiet and mindful for an hour, but with four kids, two cats, a dog and partridge in a pear tree – that is a foreign concept for me.
This particular class was perfect for me because it incorporated both a slower practice, where you hold poses, as well as active movements for flow building, strength, stamina and flexibility. Julie, the instructor was friendly and extremely helpful. She gently guided us from pose to pose and provided a variety of modifications with blocks, blankets and other props. There was enough movement in the class that it kept my ADHD brain focused, but yet when we held some of the YIN poses, my body KNEW that I needed those particular stretches. It was a nice compliment to some of the other workouts I’ve done since becoming a member of CLM.
The class was nice and small and the space was extremely clean. As always, members were mindful to wipe down any equipment that was used. And if you’re a beginner like me and you don’t have a yoga mat, they have plenty that you can use. I definitely recommend incorporating one of CLM’s yoga classes into your weekly routine. Trust me, your body will thank you for it.
