How to Find the Right Personal Trainer

You’ve made the decision to hire a personal trainer to help you reach your health and wellness goals. That’s a great decision! But how do you choose the right trainer? There are several factors to consider, such as college degrees, trainer certifications, personality match, and availability. To assist you in this process, La Maison Health and Fitness has created a resource that can help.

At La Maison Health & Fitness, we do things a little differently. Our Club Ambassadors, Jacquie Mitchell and Nate Kennedy, are the first people you’ll meet. Their role is to assist potential personal training clients in finding the right trainer and ensure that you have the best experience possible. With over 20 years of combined training experience, they are well-qualified to guide you in finding the perfect fit. They will begin by sitting down with you to discuss your exercise and health history, as well as the fitness goals you would like to achieve. Following that, they will conduct a movement assessment to better understand your needs and where you’re starting.

Based on all the information gathered during your consultation, they will then make a personal training recommendation. To help you get a better sense of the process, here are some questions that may be considered:

  1. Is there a trainer available who has experience working with clients similar to me and my goals?
  2. Are there any client testimonials that describe situations similar to mine?
  3. Is there a trainer whose personality you believe would match mine, ensuring an enjoyable experience at the gym while working towards my goals?

Another common question often asked is about the qualifications of the trainer. At La Maison, every trainer either holds a college degree in an exercise-related field and/or a nationally recognized personal training certification. Additionally, all LMHF personal trainers are “career trainers” who work full-time hours. We do not employ trainers who view personal training as a side job or hobby. Our priority is to improve your health and wellness.
