Journey Back To Fitness

I did it! I finally made the decision to put my health & fitness back at the top of my priority list. I’m tired of this extra covid weight. I’m tired of trying to motivate myself to workout in the basement, between working from home, home-schooling and being wife and mom.

So, I did some research and found a great club with a genuine family vibe!  Club La Maison has been around for years.  However, if you haven’t been there recently, it’s not the club you might remember from years ago.

A few years back, they did a huge renovation. Plus during the Covid lock down, they re-painted and upgraded the club. It’s a great facility with tons of equipment, a huge variety of classes and the best training programs around.

But what really impressed me with CLM is the face to face personal interactions their staff has with the members. Management is not hiding away in offices, they’re on the main floor mingling with the members. You can tell they truly care about the member experience.

I came in for my private tour earlier this week and was really impressed. This club does it right! It’s clean, spacious and the machines that are blocked off due to social distancing aren’t marked off with CAUTION TAPE like a crime scene, but instead have pretty blue ribbons with notes on them.

Jacquie and Nate both gave me tours of the club and made me feel right at home. They set me up with a Fit Start, where we did some basic functional movements to see how I move and review any injuries I have.

Then we did this really cool InBody Test. This is not your Grandma’s body fat test. It’s a fancy piece of equipment that measures so much more than your weight and body fat. I love numbers and when it comes to my health & fitness although my numbers are not where I want them to be, this InBody screen detailed a great starting point for me. I know where I want to be, but I can’t do it myself. But the good news is that the team at CLM is here to help.

Jacquie set me up with some CLM Fit small group training sessions, which I am really looking forward to. I enjoy doing cardio and love a good spin or kickboxing class, but I know I need to do more strength training . . . but I’m not disciplined enough to do it myself. I need the accountability of having a trainer or instructor to push me beyond my comfort zone.

So, if you’re anything like me and you’ve been trying to do this fitness thing on your own for the past year and you’re tired of the home workouts, call the club for a private tour, or even schedule a zoom call!

They also offer 14-day passes. That’s plenty of time to try a bunch of classes, see how open, spacious and safe it is! In the meantime, keep an eye out for more blogs from me. I’m excited about sharing this journey with you!
